Group 1 sets plans for 2023

Group 1: Data Collection and Sharing also kick started the year 2023 with their first meeting to discuss the current pending tasks as well as their plan of action. The meeting involved mainly on setting up the project database which involves data sources, sharing policies, training, etc.

The meeting was mainly facilitated by Dr. Ralph Allen Acierto from the International Center for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) and was also attended by Group Leaders Dr. Yasukawa Masaki and Dr. Mamoru Miyamoto Mamoru as well Dr. Naito Kensuke also from ICHARM from Japan side. Philippine side, on the other hand was led by Dr. Roger A. Luyun, Jr. (Group Leader) and attended by Dr. Cristino L. Tiburan, Jr. (Group Member), Dr. Joan Cecilia C. Casila (Group Member) and Mr. Julius Galang (Project Assistant).

The team began by considering the already existing data and databased that can be possibly integrated into the project database for use. Dr. Luyun and Dr. Tiburan mentioned the possiblity of obtaining the data from the Project SARAI (Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines) as well as from the National Irrigation Administration geodatabase project. Restrictions and permissions, however, have still yet to be explored.

Dr. Miyamoto then proceeded with discussion of data sharing policies including downloading/uploading and management. He will also share the protocol used under the Philippine International Flood Initiative (IFI) platform where SATREPS related data are to be included.

The team aims to finally develop a working database mirrored into Data Integration and Analysis System (DIAS) as soon as possible.
