HyDEPP-SATREPS holds meeting with UPRIIS Dam and Reservoir Division

HyDEPP SATREPS members visited the National Irrigation Administration - Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) Dam Reservoir Division (DRD) last June 19, 2023 to have a meeting with engineers and dam operators in charge of Pantabangan Dam. The meeting was participated by Dr. Kentaro Aida, Dr. Tomoki Ushiyama, Dr. Katsunori Tamakawa, Dr. Shrestha Badri Bhakta, Prof. Vicente Ballaran, Jr., Mr. Kohei Hosonuma (Ph.D. student) and Forester Rochelle Lantican (Project Assistant).

Engr. Zolio U. Micla, Jr., Chief of Instrumentation, Flood Forecasting and Warning System for Dam Operation (IFFWSDO) Section welcomed the project team and gave an overview of the operation and maintenance of Pantabangan Dam together with Engr. Abigail Bagsic. Further, information on dam discharge and protocols were also discussed during the presentation. 

The project members also gave an overview of HyDEPP-SATREPS and presented their current developments on climate change impacts of rainfall, and WEB-RRI results in reference to Typhoon Karding. Both DRD and project members had further discussions which was an essential step in the further development of their respective models and understanding of the influence of the dam on the Pampanga river basin.
