HyDEPP-SATREPS visits Sta. Maria and Bay Municipal Agricultural Offices for data collection

The HyDEPP-SATREPS Project team went to Sta. Maria and Bay Municipal Agricultural Offices (MAOs) last November 24th primarily for data collection for Pasig-Laguna Basin study. Joining the visit include Dr. Miho Ohara (Project Leader), Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez (Project Manager), Dr. Mona Liza F. Delos Reyes, Engr. Jay Ann Q. Lomod, Mr. Paul Edrine Mapoy, Engr. Christine Jane Ramacula, Forester Rochelle Lantican (Project Assistant), and Ph.D. and MS students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and Tokyo University.

 

The team was able to meet and was accompanied by Mr. Marlo B. Barbosa (Agricultural Technologist) in Sta. Maria MAO. Engr. Ballaran provided him first with an overview of HyDEPP-SATREPS and proceeded with an interview about the agricultural conditions of the municipality during inundation. Specific agricultural data were also successfully collected from the office. Aside from MAO, the group also visited the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) of Sta. Maria to seek other necessary information and data for the study.

 

Ms. Clarissa Briñas (Municipal Agriculture Officer, OIC) accompanied the group in Bay MAO. Similarly, Engr. Ballaran provided her with an overview and asked her questions about the municipality’s agricultural conditions. Selected data were also gathered in the office.

 

The project aims to continue data collection and start to utilize collected data from MAOs.
