HyDEPP-SATREPS Philippines side conducts Research Report Meeting

On March 9, 2023, the HyDEPP-SATREPS Philippines side managed the Research Report Meeting to present the project progress to the research fund provider, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The participants of the meeting came from the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB), University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), International Center for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines, University of Tokyo, etc.

 

Hosted by Dr. Mona Liza Delos Reyes (Groups 2 and 3 member), the program started with opening remarks by Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. (Project Director) followed by the project progress overview presented by Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez (Project Manager), then a briefing about the project mid-term review by Mr. Tsukasa Soma (JST).

 

Study leaders namely Dr. Roger A. Luyun, Jr. (Group 1), Dr. Aurelio A. Delos Reyes, Jr. (Group 2), Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez (Group 3), and Dr. Maria Angeles O. Catelo (Group 4) presented the progress of their respective groups in relation to expected outputs and mentioned future directions. Aside from study leaders, Group 2 member Eng. Vicente Ballaran, Jr. presented his model development and calibration of models of his research and Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr. delivered his Basic Research Project which answered one of the expected outputs of Group 3. Supporting projects with interest to HyDEPP were also explained by Arvin Carandang (representative of Dr. Jessica D. Villanueva-Peyraube), Dr. Eugene C. Herrera, Dr. Joan Cecilia C. Casila, Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez, and Ms. Catherine Gigantone.

 

The questions mainly from Dr. Takashi Asaeda (JST & Program Supervisor) were entertained and answered during the presentation.. He also gave comments about the presented progress. The program was officially ended with a closing remarks from Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez.

 

The HyDEPP-SATREPS hopes to expand its members and looks forward to future activities.
